Our Story / Ein Stori

We have lived at Ty Uchaf Farm / Fferm Ty Uchaf for almost 20 years, and love the history and the landscape of this special place. We wanted to share our little slice of heaven with others, so in 2022 we created a small, off-grid and sustainable glamping site to enable visitors to enjoy comfortable accommodation but with that essential "back to nature" glamping experience. Our aim was to blend in with the landscape. We hope you agree. We think we know what makes a good break, and will help in ways big and small to make sure you want to come back soon.

OFF GRID? / ODDI AR GRID?

Our “back to nature” glamping experience is a chance to reduce your impact, unwind and have a more sustainable holiday. Through these measures we have calculated the carbon footprint of your accommodation as just 350g CO2 per stay:

  • 12 volt solar power and lighting only – no mains electricity.
  • Compost toilets – no flush, waterfree and very green.
  • Greywater reed bed for showers/sinks.
  • BBQs & firepits.
  • Carbon-neutral firewood and tree-planting.
  • Water conservation.
  • Recyling & composting.
  • No wifi or TV (but phone/data signal if you want it).
  • Mains drinking water.
However, this doesn’t mean “roughing it”. Our accommodation is very comfortable. You can charge phones, tablets and USB devices from our solar power. We have small camping fridges and access to hot showers 24/7 (heated by gas until we can develop reliable solar water heating too!). Our Field Kitchen also has a gas hob, so you can quickly make a cuppa any time of the day or night.
